Rubbing elbows with talented people

Since my last post, the rising temperatures in Paris have kept me at home with my everyday activities and without blogging. Not much inspiration either,so I just took it easy .

It's summer after all ; we all need to take it nice & slow...

I agreed last week to do an outing in Paris with my friend Leesa. I'm not one to go back on my word, despite afternoon temps that were in the 80's yesterday afternoon in Paris, I was eager for some new experiences.

First stop in the Place d'Italie, we made a bee-line after the metro to the cozy refuge that is Aimée's Salon de thé & restaurant. It's called "Oisiv'thé ", and is run by fellow Blogger & US expat Aimée. I borrowed a few pics of the restaurant itself from Leesa; my camera's battery ran out of juice just after photographing the gals !

Here's a shot that I did of Aimée (left) along with Leesa.

Photos of the restaurant by Leesa :

Homey interior... very pretty decoration .

I highly reccomend Aimée's selections ! She makes some yummy salads and veggie dishes. And also does scrumptious desserts. It's a small but very cozy spot on a quiet side street .
Thumbs up, Aimée ! I will be back, with my hubby. If anyone is passing through Paris on vacation, or for the residents , do yourself a favor & try it.

After this charming stop, we headed for Montparnasse. Leesa invited me to a TV taping . It featured an US jazz singer named Manda , one of Leesa's friends. We met up at a bar in Montparnasse where the taping was to take place. This normally will be featured on French TV ( on TNT for those in France)after the summer vacations. So, to be featured in a TV show meant signing a release before the taping, which I did.

All we had to do was to listen to Manda perform several songs. We were set up in front, we just had to play our role and not make noise during the shooting, applaud at the end of each song, etc etc. It was a real pleasure, hearing some great Gospel, an oldie but Goodie named "C'est si bon", and a special for Leesa with "The Girl from Ipanima", with the Bossa Nova that she so loves.

It was a small group ( 7 persons including Manda's companion ). It was fine; it only took an hour or so, and we were free to go.What a great mini performance I may not even be at home in September when that show will be aired, but we shall see...

I have always had the hardest time finding a professional life here in France, So, when I see other people who succeed here, I'm in complete admiration. I'm someone who stopped fighting somewhere along the line, and just let myself take care of my husband & family on a full-time basis.

I figure that you can't have everything in life .It's a question of balance , how you deal with the + and - parts.

If everyone thinks a few secs about their life, we all have something positive or agreeable going for each of us.

Thanks again to Leesa for proposing yesterday's outing . I enjoyed myself a lot.

See everyone very soon.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I am living in the wrong country. It sounded like so much fun! My sister would have loved to stop in at Aimee's place, she ♥♥♥s tea, but unfortunately we didn't stumble upon any places when we were in Paris last year. Now if I could only convince her to leave Seattle... ;-)

The place looks lovely and I love the name! L'oisiveté... exactly what you needed on a hot day in Paris!

Next time I go to France, I'll ask you for the places to go - you seem to know the right places to hang out!

Hello Pearly,
How are you doing ? Keeping rested I'am hoping.
I highly recommend Aimée's restaurant. She's a great person to know and yes, a fellow Blogger.
I will keep in touch with you.

Take it easy my friend.

Hi Rowena,
You would be right at home among us I think !I'm sorry that you don't have anyone near you that is English speaking. If you found a few, it would be fun to do meetings & get togethers.
When you are in Paris the next time ( Debi in DC tells me that you are coming;we all have to meet !)this restaurant is a MUST.
You have to get your sis out of Seattle & to Paris ! C'mon Rowena's sis; treat yourself to Paris/ Europe at least once in your life ;)

Salut Zhu,
You would love it.Friendly, home cooking easy going ambiance.
No problem for advising you; except for hotels which I don't know in Paris.I'm just over in the "proche banlieue", very close by Paris (92).

See everyone soon.

Hey Farina,
I love this retaurant too ! I'm coming back for sure.

We really were not there very long... after being set up & when Manda was ready, she sang all her 4 songs ( only one short cut), almost straight through. Then, one extra bonus song for Leesa;it was a take. We were done.It was a small production.

I think afterwards, there was another shooting without audiance with the bar's owner interviewing Manda.

No make up either or other fussing.
They just made sure that our glasses were full with whatever beverage we wanted.
Wow; the whole day to shoot at Oprah's? For something like that, I don't have the time !

See you soon ;)
