Day 29: Taking care of my Family tree

Let's face it...
Blogging become such an important part of my life, that some of my pastimes have been getting placed in the back seat at times.
Yes; I have been getting sidetracked !

I can imagine that all bloggers know that one...

One of my favorite hobbies includes my Family History or Genealogy hobby.

I have a friend in New Jersey named Rita who sometimes gives me a hand with finding online sources. Rita also is a faithful reader of this blog that I want to salute !
I'm also lucky that my cousin Gerry(who lives outside Philly) is a also big Genealogy fan, and we sometimes exchange info and documents through e mail.

Aren't we the busy bees ?!

Though, I would like to do more...
Family History is very interesting for myself, because like almost everyone, I like to know all about these people who I call my ancestors.I don't find this boring, because the questions you always ask are interesting, such as :

How they lived?
What jobs they did ?
Who were their children ?
What did they look like and do I look like them ?

And tons more questions.

Like most people who do this hobby, my curiosity is insatiable, and I love to pour through any document, photo or microfilms to try and piece together the family portrait. It already helps that I love to do research; that's something that I picked up during my University years that has helped me in this hobby.

Once in awhile I will mention Genealogy on these pages, but am very respectful because I know that a lot of peeps are not interested. That's why I had been up to last June, living a double "blog life". I kept up a second blog dedicated just to my family's Genealogy.

Yes, I said up to last June, because I stopped publishing my Genealogy blog. It had started to become limiting, as I wanted to publish my Family tree in a clear and readable form, and also add photos or other souvenirs.

Didier got me started on a website maker, but after a good start, I had trouble putting in my information. No; this program was not really made for putting in Genealogy info correctly. So, I just stopped, and got into our upcoming North American trip.

Then, I just never came back to work on the future Genealogy website.

I know,I know; it's not too hot to start the year with some unfinished biz hanging over my head...

So, I made a compromise to myself.I found a website that allows you to put all your Family tree and keep it in their website. So my info will be there confidentially, but people who will go online on this site can do searches.
This morning I put in the first two names on my online Family tree, which are those of my parents.

It's a first step, and I can share the info with my entire family.I shall be attacking the bigger part of the work after 1 January.

Geez; we are not yet in 2009, and I already have my first project of the year.
And what about you all ?

What is your first project for the New Year ??

You too, stop dreaming and roll up your sleeves !

Have a great day ;)

First project of the new year is Classified Top Secret until further notice. I don't want to jinx it. ;)
But trust me, it's MAJOR.

Hiya Barb!

I wish I had seen your past Geneology website, because that sort of thing REALLY interests me!!!

If you could, I would love for you to email me the present site you're on, once you get it going, so I can take a look at it and do a search for myself. This sounds so cool!

My project for the upcoming year, will be to publish an ebook on LuLu.com. Since I have the month of January off, I want to use that time to go through my blog (VENT) archives and create a book of my stories.

Also, I want to start writing more posts for my Review Blog, which I've been neglecting the past month.

So on to...2009!

The best of luck and fun with your Geneology site, Barb!

Hi Ron,
It always nice to catch you around.
I'll drop you my genealogy blog link.
I could give you a few tips to get started, but as it is in our Internet era, a majority of our resources are PAID sites.

How ECITING about you publishing your posts ! I have to take a peek at that website. I have a friend who really is trying to publish a novel; it's a long road until actually getting published.

Hope to hear from you soon, if not have a happy & safe New Years eve !!
